Synopsis

ACT ONE

1.   Christmas in July  (21 minutes)

Adult siblings, sister and brother, Sorrel and Laurence, eagerly await the return of their parents from an around the world trip, courtesy of the lottery! And because the trip took them away from home over the course of the holidays, Sorrel insists that now is the time to celebrate, even though it’s currently in the middle of July!
“Welcome home Mom!
Welcome home Da...
Mom? Where’s Dad?”

Cast of Characters

Sorrel:                      LAURENCE's sister.
Laurence:                 SORREL's brother.
Jacinta:                     LAURENCE and SORREL's mother.

ii.    Brother Santa, Sister Clause (11 minutes)
Twenty-one year old Joel and his ten year old sister, Virginia, share a little moment wrapping Christmas gifts.

Cast of Characters

Joel:                        21, the big brother.
Virginia:                    10, the little sister.

iii.   Joyeux Noelle (12 minutes)
Noelle and Byron had each lost their spouses. Will the magic of the Christmas season help them find love again, or are they still too afraid?

Cast of Characters

Noelle:                      Widowed for a couple of years now. She has a laugh that she hates. It's a normal laugh, followed by half a hiccup. ("Hic!")
Byron:                       A widower, also of a couple of years. Shy. He stutters a bit.

 

ACT TWO

iv.    Miffed at the Magi (12 minutes)
The perfect one-of-a-kind Christmas gift is at hand! And what a bargain!! If only it wasn’t breakable!!!

Nate:                       Husband in search of the perfect Christmas gift for his wife, Ellen.
Nori:                        Nate’s sister.
Ethan:                       Nate’s brother-in-law (Ellen’s brother.)
Ellen:                       Nate’s wife.

v.     Bus Stopped (12 minutes)
Marie and Jude wait for a bus. Marie Knows where she’s going, and where she’s been. Will Jude let her help him find his way?

Cast of Characters

Marie:             A woman, could be in her sixties, but probably older.
Jude:               A man younger than Marie. Probably 20’s or 30’s- but perhaps older.

 

vi.    North Pole Noir (19 minutes)
Meet Nick Kringle, private eye, and his secretary, Navidad, in this take-off of the film-noir genre of the 1930’s and ‘40’s, as they try to solve the mystery brought to them, by the Mysterious, Madame X!

Cast of Characters

Nick Kringle:               Private Eye.
Madame X:                 Femme Fatale.
Navidad:                     Nick’s private secretary.
Mister Y:                    Man with a secret.
Madame Ewe:            Another Femme Fatale.
